I believe in the American dream. No, not the newly defined one that everyone deserves a house that they can't afford; the one that rewards hard work with success. You see, I came from a family who was blue collar, middle class. My parents believed that if we worked hard and took the right steps, we could be successful. So, my 4 other siblings and I all toughed it out through lots of college, we lived like paupers for a long time, and we picked professions where we knew we could be successful. I don't work hard just to turn around and be forced to give everyone else "their fair share." I work hard so I can benefit from the fruits of my labor. I know this doesn't sound very nice in your little politician world where you think you are better at spending my money than I am, but I am not sure why else I would want to work this hard. So, please understand why I am going to move to a different country and take my skills with me if you decide that you want re-distribute my (future) wealth for me. I don't need your help, thank you very much.
Sincerely,
A hard-working citizen

Excellent letter Maggie! I agree, what should motivate people to bust their butts, if the $$ will just be taken and given to those who don't work as hard, or even work at all?! Dependency programs cannot exist without classes of people who are willing to work... oh wait, we can't all become dependents?
How that can make sense to people baffles me, unless you're on the receiving end, I guess... such selfish, immoral, laziness.
Thanks for the comment Maggie. I am sure that you are not aware that I check your blog. :) Anyways....we'll see where this road leads. I know especially in health care that people do not value their services if they don't pay for them...it gets very frustrating. Anyways, hope med school is going well.
